Waterproof Test: Collection 2000, Maybelline and Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner

Maybelline Gel Eyeliner

Collection 2000 Gel Eyeliner

Bobbi Brown

I decided to do a test on the 3 Gel Eyeliners that I have got to see which one is the most waterproof and last the longest.
The first one is Collection 2000, middle is Maybelline and the third one is Bobbi Brown.

So after rinsing it through the tap the result came out.

Verdict: To be honest, all three of them was really hard to wash with water. I was proper rubbing them off as well but it won't budge. As you can see they are all quite waterproof but Bobbi Brown is the best (I'm not that surprised, I mean you get what you pay for). Maybelline is faded but you can still see the line and then next is Collection 2000. So the theory is the more you pay for the better the quality is. Which one would I buy? I think it really is between Collection 2000 and maybelline but I think I like Collection 2000 in terms of application because the texture is really creamy whether as Maybelline the texture thicken and became hard (I had to heat it to melt it).

Review: Collection 2000 Lasting Colour Gel Eyeliner

Product: Collection 2000 Gel Eyeliner
Price: £4.99
Colour: Black

I bought this in Superdrug as it was 3 for 2 for Collection 2000 products. This is a new product that came out from Collection 2000. It comes with a small brush which is pretty bad quality and not thin enough so I prefer using my own brush. The box is also very cute. I like using gel eyeliner because they tend to last longer. I have got to say that this is a very good gel eyeliner. It is very creamy and easy to apply. It does not feel thick. When I applied it on my eyelid, it easily glided on.

Verdict: 8/10 I think I am going to purchase Collection 2000 from now on if I want a gel eyeliner and forget about Bobbi Brown or Maybelline Gel Eyeliner. This is so much cheaper and work just as well. This is a short review because I've decided to do a comparison between the gel eyeliners.

YSL Touche Eclat, L'oreal Illuminating Highlighter and Collection 2000 Illuminating Touch Concealer

Spend: YSL (£21.50) or Save: L'oreal (£8.99) and Collection 2000 (£4.99) Highlighter Concealer

The top is Collection 2000, middle is L'oreal and bottom is YSL.

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat (Radiant Touch)
As you can see at the bottom, the concealer really covered my dark circles and it makes my eyes look more awake. you can really tell the difference. It was really easy to blend as well. It didn't match my skin colour but if you really blend it well it adapts to the skin colour. This is expensive but you pay what you get.

Before:

After:

L'oreal Lumi Magique Concealer

However, the price of YSL put me off so I got this concealer free when I bought a cheryl cole special edition box. it was not as easy to blend as the YSL. it did cover the dark circles but I don't think it did it as well as YSL.
 Before:

After:

Collection 2000 Illuminating Touch Concealer

This product was harder to blend then both the concealer above but as you can see it really made my eyes more awake and brighten my eyes. It is also very cheap to purchase and it does a good job for such a low price. There is 3 other colours to choose from and I choose the No. 2 Natural. I've been through a lot of the concealers because I love using it.

 Before:

After:

Verdict: I like the Collection 2000 and I recommend to purchase it. The YSL is for people who can really afford the concealer or love it alot but I can't really afford it (it is actually my sister who works full-time). I'm still a student so I will purchase the Collection 2000.

Review: Sleek Make-up Eyeshadow Brights Palette

Product: Sleek Make-up Eyeshadow Bright Palette
Price: £6-7
Where to Buy: UK Superdrug
Product Info: Bright Colours

I read many reviews in different blogs raving about this palette so I decided to purchase the palette to see what it was really like. The price was around £6 so that was pretty decent for a colour palette. When I got to Superdrug it was nearly sold out especially the neutral colours. The package reminded me of a chocolate bar (Lindt).

The box is quite nice with the brand right in the middle however the back of the screw bit have already chipped when I bought it so it is very fragile plus the eyeshadow powder goes everywhere so you have to handle with care.

As you can see I tried the different colour on my eyes and i have to say i am very pleased with the result especially the dark colours, a normal amount shows alot of pigment on my eyelid. you can really see the differnt colours at the top photo.

Verdict: I'm looking forward to trying different tutorial and make-up look with this palette. It is very good to experiment with. I do recommend this palette for people who likes to wear different colours.

Review: Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow Palette

Product: Revlon Illuminane Creme Shadow Palette

Price: £3 to £5
Texture: Creme
Colours:  Precious Metals 09 (Silver, Gold, Bronze, Copper)

As you can see the creme eyeshadow is very shimmer, the colour is quite faded so there isn't really much pigment. However, they are quite waterproof especially the dark colour.

I don't really use much of the dark colours and as you can see I use the silver colour the most. I use this as a base for my eyelid or to highlight my brow bone. The colours are very nice and very natural.

Verdict: I think this eyeshadow is perfect for an everyday wear or for people who doesn't really like using bold colour eyeshadow. This can be used alone, however, you have to use alot before the colour really shows and the quantity is very small so you can finish of in a few months. I think this eye shadow is really good for highlighting. There is many different other palette with different colours to choose. I would buy this again but in another different colour.

Best White Eyeliner

This white eyeliner is amazing! It is the best white eyeliner I have owned ( well it was my first one) but I know it is good because my sister tried purchasing white eyeliner in the UK but the white eyeliner never stays on her eyes and it is hard to apply and the white does not show as well as this one. I got this when I was in Hong Kong and I just went into Sasa or Bonjour (not sure just a chinese version of superdrug) and I picked this white eyeliner up and it is really good. I am not sure of the brand (don't think it is famous) so I don't know whre I can buy it again.

Showing really well even in dark areas.

You can see it really clearly in my eyes at the bottom as well. This white eyeliner stays on all day and it is very noticeable. It is also good for highlighting your high eyebrow and your upper lip.
I just hait buying products that are good but not able to get my hands on them again. Sigh. And also I am so sure I got this for HK$10 which is around £1 I think but I remember it was really cheap.

Make-up: Feeling Blue Eyeshadows

Another make-up look I was trying out. I really like the colour blue, in the photo it looks more turquoise than blue but I only used the colour blue.

Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner vs. Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner

Save: Maybelline Gel Eyeliner (£7.99) vs. Spend: Bobbi Brown Long-wear Gel Eyeliner (£16.50)

I bought the Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner first. I needed a waterproof eyeliner because I have really oily eyelids so no matter what I put (even waterproof products) it seem to always smudge. If I don't have waterproof make-up on it looks like I have panda eyes.

I really like Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner (as you can see I have used more of it than Maybelline.) It is long lasting and I find the texture to be very creamy and easy to apply on the eyelid. It is really really waterproof! I tried washing it with water and soap but it will not budge! I needed to use a make-up cleanser to remove it.

What put me off Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner was the price. I was so happy when Maybelline Gel Eyeliner finally came to UK. The product is very similar to Bobbi Brown but it is alot cheaper! The container similar as well.

In the below photo, the left line is maybelline and the right line is Bobbi Brown. Bobbi Brown is darker than maybelline and it was so much easier to apply. I felt maybelline dried up really easily (unless you put it on the heater to melt abit.) They were both waterproof as well (I was trying to wash my hand below but it would not budge, Bobbi Brown was the last one standing.)

Verdict: Buy Maybelline Gel Eyeliner. In the end, Bobbi Brown is slightly better in quality but than Maybelline is also good for what you are paying for as well. They both give the same affect and does the same job so why pay more than over a half for something that works the same? The Bobbi Brown price really put me off so i tried finding a cheaper alternative Gel Eyeliner and I think Maybelline is a good alternative.

Review: Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream

Product: Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream
Price: about £10
Where to buy: Ebay, Facial-shop.com, Yesstyle

This was my first BB Cream ever. I heard this from Bubzbeauty 3 years ago and I bought it straight away in Hong Kong. It is alot cheaper to buy it in superdrug stores such as mannings, colourmix etc than buying it in the proper Missha store (which I stupidly did). I love this BB Cream. The texture is creamy, not watery. It makes my face not greasy and oily. It gives a natural glow feel. The colour matches perfectly. It has all these healing property as well. I love the smell of this BB Cream as well! It smells so nice. I sometimes love scented make-up (depending on the scent). This one is like a Johnson Baby smell.

                               Before:                                                     After:

This product covered my dark circles in my eyes and some blemishes. It also makes my face look fresh and awake, brighter and abit whiter.

Verdict: 9/10. This is my favourite Asian BB Cream. Although, I haven't really tried much other BB Cream but I don't feel that it is necessary because if you have a good product that works for you why try other plus the other Asian BB Cream are quite expensives and this one is reasonable price. You can get it from Rubyruby (forgot the full name) from Ebay. (However, I really want to try the Skinfood Orange Jelly recommended by Oiseau88. I usually like trying recommended products from youtube make-up guru, hehe)

Review: Schwarzkopf Live Colour XXL Plum Perfection

Product: Schwarzkopf Live Colour XXL Plum Perfetion Hair Dye
Price: £4 sales
Colour: Red/Purple

I haven't dyed my hair for over 6 months. I dyed it in January Brown/Black with L'oreal mousse and I told myself I was never going to dye my hair again because I feel like once you start dying you have to keep it up. However, I really wanted a change and I got kind of bored of the black hair so I decided I want to dye my hair purple. I've dyed my hair in brown before with Liese, Loreal and going to a professional hairdresser but I got really bored of dying it brown so I wanted a change.
It was between red or purple, but I feel like most people dye their hair red and purple is different.

Before:

My hair is black with brownish bits at the bottom of my hair. I knew if I wanted to make it really noticeable I should get a lighter shade. I did not expect the colour of the package either.

After Dying:

 Day 5:

Verdict: 8/10 After the dye, the colour did not show but I was confident that after a few washes the colour would show (since this always happens to me) I don't think the camera showed the colour well in Day 5. I think it is abit lighter in real life. But  you can actually see the purple abit and I've only washed my hair once in the 5 days.
I am very pleased with this product, it was on sales when I bought it so I am pleased with the price. I dyed it myself and it was very easy to apply. The product made my hair soft and less greasy as well which is good because I have a oily scalp. I would definitely recommend people who has never dyed their hair because the colour really shows.

Make-up: Pink Bad Romance Eyeshadows

This is my second make-up look. I used 3 shades of pink (little to dark) and I used black eyeshadow and a liquid eyeliner. I was trying to create a goth pink affect on my eyes. I think the black enhances the eyes and it also makes the pink colour stands out.

Review: Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream

Product: Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream
Price: £6 - £10
Where to buy: UK, Superdrug, Boots
Skin Type: All
Colour Type: Light, Medium

This is one of my favourite western BB Cream. This was the first BB Cream that came out of the UK and I bought it straight away! I love this BB Cream because it matches my skin perfectly, it doesn't have whitening product, it blends really easily and I can get it straight away (unlike the Korean BB cream which I have to wait for shipping.) The BB Cream has a nice scent as well. I would say this is light coverage. It makes my face glow as well. This is a 5 in 1 BB Cream.

Before:                                                                                   After:

I have a few spots on my head but the BB Cream doesn't really cover it. The texture is quite thick. It is like a tinted moisturiser but it is thicker and there is a lot of benefit in BB Cream for the skin.

Verdict: 9/10 - Love this BB Cream. I really recommend people to purchase this especially for people who are on the go, loves natural make-up look and loves BB Cream. The only flaw is that it does not last very long so you will need to apply primer before the BB Cream.

Slate: 3 Foundations I Dislike and Do NOT recommend

The Rimmel and Maybelline foundation were the ones I used during teen times around 14 - 16 ages. At that time, my skin was really bad so I wanted a full coverage foundation. I thought Maybelline and Rimmel were good but looking back and seeing my old photos I realise how bad it all looked. Revlon concept seemed cool when it first came out so I bought it but I regret it. I normally take photos of my products with my camera but I chucked all these foundation out because they were really, really bad. I cannot use them again.

1. Rimmel Recover Foundation (Save your £4)

This was my first ever foundation I bought and I liked how it seem natural and good for the skin because of all the vitamins it had. It also blended nicely on my skin. What I didn't realise was my face looked greasy and oily. My face skin was horrible. You can see the horrible skin and the glitter on it enhanced my blemishes even more. It was watery and ....... just horrible. I bought this and maybelline because it was the cheapest foundation at drugstore during those time and also it was the popular foundations.

2. Revlon Photoready Foundation (Save your £8)

I got this foundation when it first came out cause I thought it might be a good replacement for the laneige snow crystal foundation also I saw one of Bubzbeauty video recommending this foundation and thought "oh I might try it" since it supposingly gives a natural glow to the face and abit glittery on the face. DON'T BUY THIS FOUNDATION. I liked it at first but probably because I only wear it for a few hours but if you wear it the whole day it will not last and it enhances your blemishes from all the glitter it has on the face. You can see the huge pores on my face. I chucked it away the moment I saw a hideous reflection on a mirror when I went shopping and my friend pointed it out that my pores look huge and I needed to get a better foundation. What a waste of my money. Glitter is never a good look on your face to be honest.

3. Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse (Save your £6)

I liked this... no I loved this foundation when I first started wearing since it gave a medium to full coverage look and made all my blemishes and spots and redness disappear. I didn't care in the colour before as well so I picked any colour if the one I wanted wasn't there. Boy was I wrong. Looking back at my old photos my face looked caked on. You can see the foundation did not match my skin colour. You can see lines from the foundation on my face. It was heavy on my face. I don't really understand why I liked it so much before. One advantage of it is that it actually cleared my spots but that is about it. It is too hyped up. You can tell when someone is wearing maybelline dream matte mousse because their face will look caked up.
